Like him or loathe him, and I certainly loathe him, JT has been the best British centre half of the the last 25 years and has a right to be compared with the best British centre halves.

Terry in his prime was one of the top 5 defenders in the world. Lampard does say comparable on the pitch, which if anything seems to say he's not the class act off it that Bobby was.

Which is true. In terms of style of play. An old school centre back etc.
But the "closest" you get to Bobby Moore being John Terry is still fucking LIGHT years away.

The Moores lived in Waverly Gardens right next to (what was then) the Volunteer pub/flyover and just opposite the Thames View Estate on the other side of River Road.
BTW - have no problem with what Lampard has said. He's is just saying the nearest MODERN player is Terry -- key word being "nearest"

On a football level, it's not the most outrageous comparison, but it would be nice for someone in the media to make a comment on the huge gulf in class off the pitch. A captain is much more than a player, especially a captain of England. Looking at the whole package, Terry falls well short.

True regarding where they lived... the Terry's are from our old estate (Thames View)... the Moores were a couple of miles down the A13...
